NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Prairie View A&M University baseball team lost twice Sunday on the final day of the Major League Baseball Urban Invitational.
The Panthers lost to the University of New Orleans 14-0 in game one, and fell to the University of Illinois-Chicago 6-1 in game two.
PVAMU will host Incarnate Word in the home opener Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Tankersley Field.
Game 1 - UNO 14, Panthers 0: Prairie View A&M put on runners on base in seven consecutive innings but were unable to score. The Privateers broke open a close 2-0 game with 12 runs scored in their final three at-bats.
Xavier Jefferson had two hits for PVAMU.
Game 2 – UIC 6, Panthers 1: Avery Williams' solo home run in the fifth inning tied the game at 1-1. However, the Flames (2-2) regained the lead and pulled away with runs in the sixth, seventh, and ninth innings.
Nathan Carter had two hits for the Panthers in the nightcap.
