Huntsville, Ala - The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team was defeated by Alabama A&M 87-74 at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

Tevin Bellinger led the Purple and Gold in scoring with 20 points, while
Troy Thompson added 17 points, and
Zachary Hamilton scored a dozen.

The Panthers broke slow out of the gates, falling behind 9-3 with 15:55 remaining in the opening half. PVAMU would later close the gap tying the game at 11 apiece on a Bellinger layup with 12:35 left in the first half.  The Panthers went cold from the field, as they were outscored 32-18 during the rest of the half. The Bulldogs capitalized leading by as many as 18 and were in possession of a 42-29 lead into the halftime break.

PVAMU cut the Bulldogs lead to 44-34 on a
Shay'rone Jett layup with 17:43 remaining the contest. The Panthers would be unable to cut the lead to single digits, and again went cold from the floor, AAMU led by as many as 22 points in the second half. The Panthers would close the game on a strong note, scoring 32 points in the final 11 minutes of the contest.

The Panthers will return to the hardwood to take on Alabama State in a contest that has serious SWAC Tournament implications. Tipoff is at 7:30 pm with a live broadcast from 91.3 KPVU FM.
