BEAUMONT, Texas – The Prairie View A&M University baseball team lost at Lamar 15-7 Tuesday at Vincent-Beck Stadium.
The Panthers scored three runs in the sixth inning.
Xavier Jefferson led off the inning with a double to right field before
Cody Den Beste was hit by a pitch. Jefferson stole third base, and scored on an error for the Panthers' first run.
Nathan Carter, who reached on the error, and Den Beste advanced to second and third, respectively on a passed ball. Den Beste scored on a
Steven Williams' sacrifice fly, and Carter scored on a RBI groundout by Jayln Baker.
PVAMU added a pair of runs in the eighth inning. With one out, Baker singled to center field. With two outs,
Brashad Jones reached on an infield single, advancing Baker to third.
Andrew Garcia then singled up the middle, scoring Baker.
Corbin Jamison followed with a single to right center, scoring Jones.
In the ninth,
Tyler Gordon led off with a single up the middle, and advanced to second as
Thi Mai reached on a fielder's choice.
Anthony Fernandez then singled to center field, scoring Gordon and moving Mai to second. After both runners advanced on groundout, Mai scored on an RBI groundout by
Kevin Macias.
PVAMU baseball returns home to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tankersley Field.
