HOUSTON – The Prairie View A&M University baseball team lost at Texas Southern 8-4 Saturday at McGregor Park.
Cody Den Beste went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, and
Avery Williams and
Corbin Jamison each had two hits as the Panthers (13-25, 6-8) will look to take game three of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
Den Beste's solo home run in the first inning gave PVAMU a 1-0 lead. In the third, Kevin Macais walked and advanced to second on a throwing error. With one out, Williams doubled to left center to score Macais. With two outs, Den Beste singled to right field for a 3-0 Panthers lead.
Leading 3-2 after five, Prairie View A&M scored in the sixth. Jamison doubled to left field with one out, and advanced to third on Macais' single through the right side.
Andrew Garcia's groundout scored Jamison for a 4-2 PVAMU lead.
Texas Southern scored (12-23, 10-6) scored all its runs in the final four innings.
