COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In their second indoor meet of the season the Prairie View A&M track and field teams fared well at the Ted Nelson Invitational hosted by Texas A&M on Friday.
On the women's side
Deonca Bookman finished seventh overall in the 400 meters with a time of 58.04.
Alana Williams posted a personal best time of 2:20.79 in the 800 finishing sixth overall, while teammate
Dinah Murphy completed a time of 2:20.95 and a seventh place finish in the same event.
In the final relays of the day the Lady Panthers had two teams to perform at this meet which were the distant medley relay consisting of the team of
Alysse Grogan,
Husniyyah Rogers, Williams, and Joanna Benavidez. The ladies finished with a time of 13:59.03 and a fifth place finish. In the 4x400 the team
Sydnee Mitchell-Jemison,
Takara Coleman, Murphy and Bookman placed fifth with a time of 3:54.74.
In the field events
Nekiesha Bailey finished first in the high jump competition marking a season best of 1.75m, ranking 12th in the nation.
On the Men's side
Samuel Omoera ran a season best time of 21.56 placing fourth in the 200 meters. In the 400m
William Polley placed fifth with a season best time of 49.06, his teammate
Brandon Kirby placed 12
th overall with a season best time of 49.89.
The men's team concluded their meet with the 4x400 placing third overall with a time of 3:19.29. The relay consisted of
Brandon Kirby,
Carl Jordan,
Logan Williams and Polley.
The next meet for the Panthers will be on Jan. 26-27 when they participate in the University of Houston Invitational.
