MONTGOMERY, Alabama – The Prairie View A&M basketball teams look to conclude the first half of Southwestern Athletic Conference play with winning streaks as they compete in games at Alabama State Saturday afternoon and at Alabama A&M Monday night.
Saturday's doubleheader begins at 3 p.m., while Monday's doubleheader begins at 5:30 p.m.
The PVAMU Sports Network will have the live broadcast of all four games. Saturday's pregame show begins at 2:45 p.m., while's Monday's game coverage begins at 5:15 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader will also be video streamed live on the SWAC Digital Network.
The women's basketball team is on a two-game win streak and seek to continue its streak playing Alabama State (4-14. 2-5). The Lady Panthers posted wins over Arkansas Pine Bluff with a 64-52 victory and a 78-73 win over Mississippi Valley State on Monday night.

Ravon Justice. "The chemistry is coming together, and getting the wins are part of it. We needed these last two wins, although we had to fight to get them."
Senior
Talisha Presley led the team with back-to-back career high performances, scoring with 17 points against UAPB and then 19 points in the win against MVSU.
Shala Dobbins scored posted her fourth 30+ scoring game in the win over Mississippi Valley. She is leading the team in scoring averaging 20.2 ppg, which ranks 31
st in the nation, and continues to lead the nation in free throws made (152) and free throws attempted (196).
The Lady Hornets fell in there last two outings in a 73-41 loss to Alcorn State on Monday, after falling to Southern on Saturday 66-58. The Lady Hornets are led in scoring red-shirt sophomore Keimeshia Walker, who is averaging 9.4 ppg. Junior Tatyana Calhoun leads Alabama State in rebounds averaging 6.5 per game.
In men's play, the Panthers (6-15, 3-4) ended a four-game losing streak with a 93-77 home victory over Mississippi Valley State. Prairie View A&M had three players score 20+ points, led by
Zachary Hamilton and
Gary Blackston each scoring 26 points, along with a season-high 22 points from
Troy Thompson. PVAMU is currently tied for 6
th entering the weekend but are only one game out of third place. The top four teams in both women's and men's play will host the first round of the 2018 SWAC Tournament on Tuesday, March 6.
The Panthers swept both games against Alabama State last season, including a 77-58 road win in Montgomery on Feb. 27.
Alabama State (3-16, 3-4) is tied the Panthers in the sixth spot in the standings and has lost two in a row, dropping both games on the road last weekend (63-61 at Southern last Saturday; 81-64 at Alcorn Monday night). Reginald Gee (13.5 ppg) and Rodney Simeon (9.5 ppg) lead the Hornets in scoring.
