PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Under the charge of PVAMU new head coach
Sonia Curvelo, the Prairie A&M soccer team had a captivating 2018 ride as the season came to a close Thursday afternoon as the No. 5 Lady Panthers fell to No. 4 Alabama State 1-0 at PVAMU Soccer Field.
The Lady Hornets found the back of the net in the 63
rd minute of the game.
"I really felt that my players gave their best today," said Curvelo. "We got a couple of opportunities in the game, but Alabama State made some really good saves. It is a disappointing result for us, but we have to take the positives of what we have done all season. I really felt like we were a team that attacked more and created a lot of great opportunities, but we just couldn't get on the score board."
The Lady Panthers won the shot battle, 16-7. All-SWAC Second Team
Jojo Bernal led the team with five shots three on goal.
PVAMU says goodbye to three seniors,
Reina Cruz,
Marinah McGinnis and
Mila Bustos.
"We have three great seniors, who will graduate," Curvelo said. "I really hope they enjoyed their last season over these last three months. I am extremely grateful for their leadership and presence. I want to thank my players, fans and the administration for their continued support."
