PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas –Sophomore outside hitter
Tamaira Armstrong notched a double-double the hard way Thursday night, combining a game-high 11 kills with 14 digs to help lift Prairie View A&M volleyball to a 3-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference sweep over cross-town rival Texas Southern in front of an exuberant crowd at the PVAMU Rec Center.
"The teamed played amazing tonight," exclaimed PVAMU head volleyball coach
TaCho Tyler. "I am not sure where this came from, but this is the team I have been looking for most of the season. I was really proud of the way the team played from defense, offense to setting. The crowd really helped keep us in the game.
Senior
Latrice Brown added eight kills, while sophomore
Victoria Pearson had seven. Junior right side hitter also notched seven kills. Jaelyn Oakes served up a season high three aces, along with setter
Erica Jimenez who had two.
Kaely Yoeman had a team high six blocks, while
Victoria Pearson (4) and
Melissa Bento (3) added in on the block party. As a team the Lady Panthers had a season high 10 blocks. Jimenez paced PVAMU with a team high 19 assists, while Oakes dished out a season high 14. Senior libero
Christen Augustine had a season high of four assists to add along with her 13 digs.
"Everyone contributed tonight and that's what I like to see," Tyler said. "This was a total team effort and this is a good way to finish out the season against UAPB and take this momentum into the tournament."

PVAMU will close out the season, when they face the Lady Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday for a 6:30 p.m. matchup for senior night.
