NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Prairie View A&M baseball team lost to Alcorn St. 8-4 Saturday in day two of the Andre Dawson Classic.
Tyler Gordon went two-for-five with two runs scored to lead the Panthers (0-2), who will face Illinois-Chicago Sunday at Noon in the final game of the Classic.
Prairie View A&M scored in the first inning. With one out, Gordon singled through the right side before
Daniel Lingua was hit by a pitch. With two outs,
Avery Williams singled to left center to score Gordon for a 1-0 lead.
In the third, Gordon again singled with one out. Lingua then singled, with Gordon advancing to third and scoring on a throwing error on the play for a 2-0 lead as Lingua advancing to second. After a two-out groundout, Lingua scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers extended to 4-0 lead in the fourth as
Xavier Jefferson walked with the bases loaded to score
Steven Williams, who led off with a walk.
Alcorn scored it runs in the fifth, sixth, and eighth innings for the final margin.
