PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Prairie View A&M basketball teams will play their final regular season home games hosting Alabama A&M Monday looking to take another step toward hosting a SWAC Tournament opening round game.

The Lady Panthers (12-14 overall, 10-5) can clinch a home first round tournament game on Tuesday, March 6 with a win Monday night over Alabama A&M (10-16, 5-10). Prairie View A&M defeated Alabama A&M 55-48 in Huntsville on Jan. 29.
PVAMU has won their fourth consecutive game for the 8
th time in the last 10 games with a 69-63 win over Alabama State Saturday.
Shala Dobbins scored a game-high 20 points and added three assists and two steals. Dominque Newman scored 15, while
Talisha Presley added 14 in the win on Senior Day.
Dobbins is currently tied for 13
th in the nation in scoring (21.5 ppg) and continues to close in on NCAA single-season records for free throws made (280) and attempted (353). Dobbins currently has made 243 of 308 free throws (78.9%) this season
The Lady Panthers remain two games behind Southern (13-3) and one game behind both Texas Southern (11-4) and Grambling (11-4).
In men's action, the Panthers won for the seventh time in the last nine games with an 80-74 win over Alabama St.
Dennis Jones scored a career-high 23 points, leading five PVAMU players in double figures.
Zachary Hamilton and
Shaquille Preston each scored 15 points,
Gary Blackston scored 14, while J.D. Wallace scored 10 in the win.
Prairie View A&M (12-17, 9-6) is also two games behind in the standings. Grambling (11-4), which is ineligible for post season play, leads by one game over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (11-5), and two in the loss column over Southern (10-6), PVAMU, and Texas Southern (9-6).
The Panthers defeated Alabama A&M 88-67 in Huntsville on January 29 behind a career-high 32 points from Blackston.
