The Prairie View A&M baseball team's final comeback against Southern fell short in a 13-11 contest Friday at Tankersley Field.

Jalyn Baker and
Daniel Lingua each had four hits, with Lingua adding five RBI in the game.
Ezekiel Bear drove in four runs, and
Steven Williams had two hits for the Panthers.

The wild back and forth game in which the teams combined for 24 runs and 33 hits saw the Panthers trail 4-0 in the first and 7-4 in the fourth before taking their only lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth.

Avery Williams,
Corbin Jamison, and Baker all singled to load the bases. Lingua's double cleared the bases to tie the game, with Lingua awarded third on obstruction during the play. Bear's sac fly gave PVAMU an 8-7 lead.

Southern (7-13, 4-5) regained the lead with a run in the fifth, four in the sixth, and one in the seventh before the Prairie View A&M rallied in the eighth.

Tyler Gordon, who was hit by pitches three times in the game, was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. With one out, he advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two out, Baker doubled to left, scoring Gordon. Lingua then singled up the middle, scoring Baker. Following a walk to Bear,
Calvin Rucker singled to right, scoring Lingua.

The Panthers (3-14, 1-6) loaded the bases in the ninth with one out but were unable to score again.
