WACO, Texas – The Prairie View A&M baseball team lost at Baylor 17-5 Monday night at Baylor Ballpark.
Daniel Lingua had three hits, while
Xavier Jefferson and
Avery Williams each had two hits for the Panthers.
PVAMU scored twice in the first to take the early lead. With one out,
Jalyn Baker singled through the left side, Lingua followed with a bunt single, and
Ezekiel Bear singled through the left side to load the bases.
Brashad Jones walked to score Baker, before Jefferson's single down the left field line scored Lingua for a 2-0 lead.
Trailing 6-2 after two, the Panthers added a run in the third. Lingua singled to lead off the inning, and moved to second as Bear was hit by a pitch. With one out, Jefferson singled to center field to scoring Lingua to make the score 6-3.
Baylor answered with two runs in the third and, following a PVAMU run in the fourth, the Bears broke the game open with a nine-run fourth inning.
The Panthers return to action Wednesday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader hosting Jarvis Christian at Tankersley Field.
