Track & Field Heads to Texas Relays & Bobcat Invite

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas. – There are several Prairie View A&M track and field athletes that will participate in the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Built by the Home Depot (which is a qualifying invite) Thursday, March 29 thru Saturday, March 31. 
 
PVAMU will also have athletes competing in the Bobcat Invite hosted by Texas State this weekend.
  
Some of the preliminary qualifiers for the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, are also nationally ranked. Ranked 2nd in the NCAA, junior Nekeisha Bailey will look to improve her career mark of 5'10.75" in the high jump.  Freshman Ja'Sha Sloan will make her debut at the Texas Relays after qualifying in the high jump with a mark of 5'6".  Senior Deonca Bookman, who is ranked 3rd in the nation in the 400 meter hurdles after posting a time of 58.78 in the PV Relays, will also compete in the 100m hurdles with a qualifying time of 13.65 and a 38th ranking. 
 
Junior Alana Williams also qualified in the 400m hurdles after finishing with a time of 1:04.73 during the Cougar Spring Break Invitational.  The women's 4x100 team consisting of senior Takara Coleman, sophomore Folami Williams, junior Lakeydra Mosley and freshman Alicia Carter, who boasted a time of 46.47 at the Jet Relays will also make an appearance at the Texas Relays.
 
The 56th ranked in the nation team of junior Husniyyah Rogers, Coleman, sophomore Sydnee Mitchell-Jemison and Bookman, posted a qualifying time of 3:45.20 in the 4x400 relay at the Cougar Spring Break Invitational will also compete, along with the 4x800 team of freshman Dinah Murphy, Rogers, sophomore Noelia Rodriguez, senior Alysse Grogan.

Both the men's 4x100 and 4x400 teams have qualified to compete in the prelims of the Texas Relays.  The four-man team that consists of senior William Polley, junior Samuel Omoera, freshman Ansar Richardson and sophomore Carl Jordan,  ranks 23rdin the nation after posting a qualifying time of 40.15 during the Jet Relays.  Polley and Jordan are also a part of the 4x400 along with sophomore Terrell Moses and Logan Williams, which is ranked 25th in the nation after running a qualifying time of 3:09.95 and a first place finish in the TSU Relays.
 
Williams is also a 110m and 400m hurdler that has qualified for both events.  Williams is ranked 40th in the nation in the 110m hurdles after posting a time of 14.30, and a first place finish during the PV Relays.  He also marked a season best time of 53.54 in the 400m hurdles, along with a first place finish in the PV Relays.  Omoera will also run in the preliminaries of the 100m dash after running a season best of 10.76 at the TSU Relays.
 
The remainder of the Panthers teams will head to San Marcos for the Bobcat Invite.
