DOBBINS SETS NCAA SINGLE SEASON RECORDS: Shala Dobbins, set NCAA women's basketball single game records for made free throws and free throws attempted during Tuesday's opening round win vs. Alcorn St.

Dobbins, the SWAC's Newcomer of the Year, entered the game needing four made free throws and six attempted free throws to set NCAA records. The record for makes was 280, set by Kent State's Larissa Lurken in 2017.  The record for attempts is 353, set by Kristy Ryan of Sacramento St. in 1994.

Dobbins, who was 14 for 14 at the line in scoring a game-high 29 points, made the record-breaking free throw with 1:16 to play in the first half.  She shot the record-breaking attempt with 5:00 to play in the third quarter.

Dobbins, a junior from Tulsa, Okla. in her first year in the program, has now made 291 of 362 free throws this season (80.4%) and is averaging 21.8 points per game. Dobbins has scored 20 or more points in 12  of last 13 games.

MONSTER COBB: Jhyrah Cobb nearly had a triple double in Tuesday's win over Jackson State.

It was Cobb's third career double-double, second in the last three games, and her second against Jackson St. Cobb has nine 10+ rebound games this season and seven in her last eight games.

Her rebound total is the second-highest in the SWAC this season and her blocks total the highest in the league this season. Cobb's 21 rebounds is the most since Larissa Scott pulled down 21 boards on Nov. 13, 2015 vs. Howard Payne, while Cobb's blocks total is the most by a Lady Panther this decade.

Cobb, who earned SWAC Freshman of the Year honors, is averaging 4.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

Jones is averaging 12.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.
