PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Prairie View A&M baseball team again lost in heartbreaking fashion to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, falling Sunday 6-5 in 10 innings at the Torii Hunter Complex.
Daniel Lingua went 3-for-5 with three runs scored to lead PVAMU.
Steven Williams went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI, and
Kaylor Lewis went 2-for-4 for Prairie View A&M.
Trailing 2-1 after five innings, the Panthers (5-18 overall, 3-9 SWAC) regained the lead in the sixth. With one out, Lingua singled to center field, and scored on a triple by
Ezekiel Bear.
Brashad Jones then reached on an error, and advanced to second on the play as Bear scored.
Andrew Garcia then singled to left field, scoring Jones to give Prairie View A&M a 4-2 lead.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10-12, 7-5) tied the score in the bottom of the sixth, and the score remained tied at 4-4 until the 10
th inning when the Panthers regained the lead.
With one out, Lingua singled to center field, and scored on a two-out double by
Steven Williams to put PVAMU ahead 5-4.
However, UAPB responded with two runs in the bottom of the 10
th to take the win.
The Panthers open a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader vs. Huston-Tillotson. Prairie View will then host Abilene Christian Wednesday at 3 p.m. before opening the second half of SWAC play against Grambling Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., all at Tankersley Field.
