PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – In the first of three matches over the weekend, the Prairie View A&M women's tennis team fell 4-1 to Stephen F. Austin in a non-conference match Friday at the PVAMU Tennis Courts.
The Lady Panthers earned the doubles point to grab an early 1-0 lead, capturing wins at the No. 1 and 2 flights. The duo of
Neharika Rama and
Constanza Aranguiz defeated Gabi Guilarte and Nida Kamal, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. The No. 2 position team of
Tatiana Ruhl and
Shaddae Findley took a 6-4 win over SFA's Kaja Ljubic and Armelle Cerdan.
The Ladyjacks claimed all four of the singles matches in straight sets. Stacey Lackey dropped her sets at the No. 1, falling to Guilarte 6-1, 6-1. SFA took a 2-1 lead after Rama dropped her sets at the No. 2 to SFA's Darinka Tiboldi, 6-2, 6-0. At No. 3, PV's
Jimena Duran-Castellanos dropped her sets 6-2, 6-1 to Sian Payne. In the final match at the No. 5 spot, Findley dropped her sets 6-3, 6-4 to Cerdan.
PVAMU women's tennis will return to action Saturday, March 7 in double header action against Oral Roberts at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the PVAMU Tennis Courts.
