NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Prairie View A&M baseball team lost 7-2 to Alabama State in the opening game of the SWAC Tournament Wednesday evening at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
The Panthers will play at Noon Thursday in an elimination game against Miss. Valley State, with live stats and live radio links available via pvpanthers.com.
Prairie View A&M scored in the top of the first without benefit of a hit.
Xavier Jefferson led off the game being hit by a pitch. Following a sacrifice bunt, walks to
Daniel Lingua and
Steven Williams sandwiched around a ground out loaded the bases.
Avery Williams drew a bases loaded walk on a 3-2 pitch scoring Jefferson to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Trailing 4-1 after four innings, PVAMU added a run in the fifth. With one out, Lingua, Bear, and
Steven Williams had consecutive singles to load the bases.
Avery Williams' sacrifice fly to left scored Lingua to make the score 4-2, but the Panthers could get no closer.
