LAKE CHALRES, La. – In the third meet of the season, the Prairie View A&M women's cross country teams ran personal bests in finishing fourth and the men's team set season bests in a ninth place finish at the McNeese State Cowboy Stampede Cross Country Meet.
JoAnna Benavidez paced the PVAMU's women's team with a 5k personal best time of 19:46.0, placing 17
th overall in a field of 96 runners. Jovanna Espinoza was the second Lady Panther finisher with a time of 20:02.6.
Helen Roddy was PV's third runner in, completing the course in 20:40.4. Kaelyn Keaton (21:00.9) and Sydney Davereaux rounded out PVAMU's top five, while
Alana Williams (21:09.6) and
Bryanna Barnett (21:27.2) completed the Lady Panthers top seven.
On the men's side, freshman
Worthington Moore was the first's PVAMU finisher, coming in at 22:48.3, while sophomore
Tracy Malrey (23:52.7), senior
Gabriel Price (24:04.9) were the second and third finishers for the Panthers. Harold Rodriguez (24:45.1) and
Francisco Hernandez (25:46.7) rounded out the Panthers top five.
Prairie View women's team will run its final meet for the regular season Thursday, Oct. 11, when they host the Clifton Gilliard Invite. The race is set to begin at 6 p.m. The men's team will be off until both teams head to Clinton, Miss for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship, Oct. 22.
