CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A staunch defensive effort and gritty play were ultimately not enough for the Prairie View A&M women's soccer team Friday evening, as a late Texas A&M Corpus Christi goal spoiled the Lady Panthers' bid for their second victory of the season.
Â
Scoreless through 80 minutes of action an Islanders player found the back of the net off of a blocked corner kick to send PVAMU to eventual 1-0 defeat.
Â
Despite allowing the winning goal, freshman
Quinn Josiah came up big once again for the Lady Panthers. The Canadian eclipsed double-digit saves for the second time in six games this year, recording 16 stops to give her an impressive 62 on the season.
Â
Freshmen
Kaelyn Carnahan,
Sonia Feuntes, and sophomore
Jojo Bernal each took one shot, while Carnahan and Feuntes had shots on goal.
Â
Prairie View will remain on the road for its next match, traveling to the University of St. Thomas on Monday, Sept. 10. The match is set to begin an 8 p.m. in Houston.
