Vernon Bland and Prairie View A&M softball revealed the Lady Panthers' 2020 schedule, which features 14 home games and a trio of tournaments.
The Lady Panthers open the season in Lake Charles, La. as they head to McNeese State University for the Cowgirl Classic on Feb. 7-9. Joining Prairie View A&M will be host McNeese State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, North Texas and Ball State. The following week, Prairie View A&M heads to Waco, Texas for the Baylor-hosted Getterman Classic (Feb. 14-16) along with Grand Canyon and Western Illinois.
Prairie View A&M will continue to be road warriors for the initial portion of the slate, as the Lady Panthers head to Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 19 for a mid-week tilt and follow up with a Feb. 25 double-header at Abilene Christian.
After a respite, the Lady Panthers get back to work in New Orleans when they take part in the HBCU Classic from March 7-8. Prairie View A&M then returns to friendly confines, opening Southwestern Athletic Conference play against Mississippi Valley State on March 13, followed by a double-header versus the Devilettes on March 14.
Following a March 18 twin-bill at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, the Lady Panthers welcome defending SWAC Eastern Division champion Alabama A&M for a three-game series from March 20-21. The next weekend (March 28-29), Prairie View A&M heads to Pine Bluff, Ark. for a series against UAPB.
The Lady Panthers host Stephen F. Austin on March 31 for a rematch before facing arch-rival Texas Southern at the PVAMU Softball Complex April 3-4. Prairie View A&M then steps out of league play for an April 8 double-header at Incarnate Word and heads to Southern University for a three-game series on April 17-18.
Seven of Prairie View A&M's final eight regular season games will be at home, starting with a pair of contests versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 22 and continuing with a three-game pow-wow with Grambling State on April 24-25. The Lady Panthers close the regular season with a trifecta of non-conference games, heading to Houston Baptist on April 28 and welcoming Incarnate Word for double-header action on April 29.
The 2020 SWAC Softball Tournament will be on May 5-9 in Gulfport, Miss. NCAA Regionals will start the following week (May 15-17), and the NCAA Super Regionals slated for May 22-24. The Women's College World Series will be May 30-June 6 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
