BOX SCORE COLLEGE STATION, Texas – In a midweek contest the Prairie View A&M Softball team fell to ranked #22 Texas A&M 8-0 at Davis Diamond Stadium.

"We came to compete," said head PVAMU softball coach Vernon Bland.  "We had a few good hits, but just couldn't get it going like we would have like to.  Games like this makes us prepared for SWAC play along with our next set of competitors throughout the rest of the season."

PVAMU experienced three early outs in the first inning, falling behind 2-0.  The Aggies scored a homerun and another run near the close of the frame.

Junior Gabrielle Fonseca got the Lady Panthers on base for the first time after she was walked in the second inning. Daniesha Hinton reached base on a fielding error advancing Fonseca. A single to first base from senior Day'zjah Pennywell also got the team their first hit of the game to load the bases, but it wasn't quite enough as PVAMU closed the inning out with three runners left on the bags.

In the pursuing innings the Lady Panthers were ultimately unable to contain Texas A&M, as they scored six runs over the second and third innings.
Prairie View was unable to get a rally going, as the team eventually fell 8-0.

Bianca Cruz was 1-1, while Destinee Williams went 1-3 at the plate.  Pennywell was 1-2 to round out the three Lady Panther singles.  Crystal Catillo received the loss, but was able to strike out one, while allowing only two walks.

Next, PVAMU will compete against both Southern Illinois and Southeastern Louisiana as they begin the Sela Lion Classic II on Friday, Feb. 15.
