Men's Indoor Track and Field Opened the 2020 Season in the Ted Nelson Invite

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Prairie View A&M men's track team finished in with multiple individual wins Friday, at the Ted Nelson Invitational inside the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

In the men's opening event of the 2020 season sophomore Timothy Demeritt in his debut as a Panther conquered first place in the men's 400 meter race with a time of 48.33.

Junior Carl Jordan posted a fifth place finish in the men's 200 meter race running a time of 21.93 to open his first indoor meet of the season, while teammate DeVonte Jones earned a top ten finish in 22 flat in the same event.

The men's 4x400 A-team consisting of sophomores Nasir Pate, Damon Cobbs, Demeritt and second leg C. Jordan finished tenth with a time of 3:18.78.

Senior Levante Williams placed seventh in the men's 5000 meter run completing the race with a time of 15:57.97.

The Panthers had strong finishes in the field events, with senior Sunne Rodriguez-Weems tying for first with three other participants in the men's pole vault clearing a height of 16-1.5. (4.91m)

Sophomore Jonathan Ewulo finished fourth in the men's triple jump by clearing 48-10.25 (14.90m) and Deante Crittenden rounded out the field events tied for a second place finish with three other participants each clearing a height of 6-6.25 (1.99m).

After calculating the men's total Prairie View A&M placed ninth with a total of 32 points.

The team will return to action January 23 and 24 at the Jayhawk invite in Lawrence, Kansas.
