PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M women's tennis team dropped a home contest to Texas State 4-0 Thursday afternoon at the PVAMU Tennis Complex.
Junior Jimena Duran-Castellanos and doubles partner freshman Anette Lira dropped their contest 6-2, and the Bobcats clinched the doubles point as sophomore Claudia Islas Medina and teammate freshman Salma Sanchez Villabos fell 6-3.
The Lady Panthers ran into trouble in singles play, as Islas Medina fell in straight sets. Duran-Castellanos nearly shook off a sluggish start but eventually stumbled in a 6-0, 6-4 affair.
Though sophomore Mahogani Green and freshman Victoria Fuenmayor Castillo picked up set victories and were en route to third-set action in their respective frays, Lira dropped her singles match in straight sets, clinching the match for the Bobcats.
