PRAIRIE VIEW – Amid concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic as well as suggested guidelines from local and national government and health organizations, Prairie View A&M athletics has announced that all summer camps have been cancelled.
The programs that stand to be affected are football and volleyball.
Per the World Health Organization and the Center for Disease Control and Preventions, gatherings are to be limited to no more than 10 people at a time in an effort to promote social distancing and slow the spread of COVID-19.
"Panther Athletics will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the WHO and CDC as well as Prairie View A&M University, the Texas A&M University System and the state of Texas as it relates to events and gatherings," PVAMU Interim Athletics Director Alicia Pete said. "There's no higher priority than the well-being of our students, faculty and staff, coaches and campers during this time, and that will remain at the forefront of our decisions on future scheduling and summer camps."
