DALLAS, Texas – A dominant 5-0 effort by the Prairie View A&M bowling team left the defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions atop the standings following day two of the SWAC West Roundup from USA Bowl. PVAMU ended the day with an 8-2 record in league play and a total pinfall of 8,911.

"I am very, very proud of the ladies and how they performed today," PVAMU head bowling coach Glenn White said. "We felt that we could improve on our efforts from Friday's competition, and the team met the challenge and grinded it out, match by match."

After pushing aside Grambling State 835-632 to begin the day, the Lady Panthers took down Southern (942-844) and Alabama State (898-809) to continue their strong effort. Prairie View A&M punctuated the day by edging out Jackson State (869-852) and topping Texas Southern (927-858) to take over first place in league standings.

Junior Crystal Cline led all PVAMU bowlers with an average pinfall of 202.2 and a total pinfall of 2,022, both marks good for second overall. Junior Asia Wren surged from 18th to sixth (1,801 total; 180.1 average) and freshman Ashlyn Okazaki is 11th in average pinfall (175). Reigning SWAC Bowler of the Year Patricia Rosales is 14th (1734 total; 173.4 average).

Junior Sonja Ortiz sits in 16th place (171.14 average), while Stephanie Vasquez is 17th (170.5 average), up nine spots from day one.

"It was a great job by Crystal, who bowled consistently well all weekend, but it was a total team effort," White said. "We'll enjoy the fruits of this weekend and get back to working on more improvements."

Prairie View A&M will return to the lanes in two weeks for the Prairie View A&M Invitational starting Jan. 29.
