Biography

2021 Prairie View A&M program has placed six outstanding scholar-athletes on the National Tenpin Coaches Association's (NTCA) All-Academic Team, as well as making the grade as one of the top ten academic programs in the nation.The team honors individual bowlers who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 or greater during the 2020-21 academic year. For the third consecutive year senior Crystal Cline, junior Asia Wren have made the list.  The Lady Panthers were just as impressive off the lanes as they were on it, posting a team GPA of 3.693 while winning this past season's SWAC regular season championship for a third time, as well as a SWAC Championship

2020-21: Sam Houston State-hosted TRACK Kat Klash ,Prairie View A&M had four bowlers in the top 20 of individual standings, led by Asia Wren's 188.0 average, which was good for 13th. 
SWAC West Roundup PVAMU ended the day with an 8-2 record in league play and a total pinfall of 8,911. Junior Asia Wren surged from 18th to sixth (1,801 total; 180.1 average). 
Day one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference East Bowling Roundup from USA Bowl with a 3-2 record. Asia Wren and  Patricia Rosales each posted averages of 180, good for top 10 standings through the East Roundup, then ending the conference with an 180.90 placing in 7th.
2021 SWAC Women's Bowling Championships, Junior Asia Wren received second team honors after posting a 180.90 pinfall average in league play, finishing seventh in individual standings. Day One of the tournament Asia Wren led all bowlers with an impressive 223.8 pinfall average during the day, including a scintillating 269 in her fourth game -- the second-highest individual total during opening round of competition.


2019-20: Blue and Gold Vegas Classic sophomore Asia Wren is in the midst of a solid campaign, averaging a pin fall of 176.38. Southwestern Athletic Conference West Bowling Roundup Senior Jada Davis and sophomore Asia Wren are in the top 25 with averages of 175 and 168.25, respectively.  SWAC East Roundup, Sophomore Asia Wren impressed in competition as well, taking the seventh overall spot in individual ranks with an average of 176.6.

The team honors individual bowlers who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 or greater during the 2019-20 academic year. Crystal Cline, Jada Davis, Shirley Kennebrew, Asia Wren and Stephanie Vasquez each earned recognition from the NTCA. For Cline, Davis, Kennebrew and Wren this is the second straight year they have garnered All-Academic honors. Vasquez, a freshman, has earned the distinction for the first time.

High School:  Wren is a multi-sport athlete (bowling, volleyball, gymnastics) that has been team captain of the Stony Point High School Tiger Bowling team for the past four years. She has led her team in average and high score each season since starting high school bowling. She qualified for Singles Regionals her freshman year. During her sophomore year she led the district girls in average with a 208 and had high game of 254.  Wren made it to the State Championships, she led her SPHS team to a 3rd place state finish in the same year. She competed in the National High School Championships that year and finished 6th overall, setting a few Texas high school records in the process.
 
Her junior year Wren, led the district girls again in average and high game. She also took home Bowler of the Year honors.  During the State High School Championships Wren finished as a semi-finalist. Her goal for her Senior year is to win the Texas High School Singles Title. She has competed nationally at Teen Masters and Junior Gold. Her best finish at Teen Masters was in 2017 where she finished 21st. Wren was in the cut at Junior Gold placing 171st in 2017 tournament.  She has also competed in the Bowling Combine the last two years. In 2016, she ranked second in her graduating class of bowlers and in 2017, she ranked first. 
 
Wren bowled her first perfect 300 game earlier this month and is the first female youth bowler to reach perfection in a tournament at her home center Mel's Lonestar Lanes. Her previous high game was a 299.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to major in Business/Accounting.
