PRAIRIE VIEW - With a three game home stand left to play, the Lady Panthers soccer team extended their winning success on Sunday versus Grambling State with a 2-1 victory at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
Heading into the weekend PVAMU was 4-0 in Southwestern Athletic play and has improved their record to 6-0 in the SWAC and 8-2-2 overall. Grambling fell to 2-7-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the SWAC.

How it Happened:
Midway through the game Grambling State's Ariyanna Buggs scored a goal at the 43
rd minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Lady Panthers just prior to halftime.

Shortly after the teams returned from halftime the Lady Panthers were able to regroup as
D'Sanye Nugent scored her second goal of the season on a penalty kick finding the ball in the right hand corner of the net at the 57
th minute, knotting the game at 1-1.

The game had already been a bit feisty, but the second half saw a lot more pushing and solving as PVAMU kept their composer. PV found the net for the game winning kick from senior Jojo Bernal late in the second half at the 65
th minute, her third this season. She was assisted by
Savannah Powell to tally the Lady Panthers second goal and take a 2-1 win.

Post-Game Note
- Both teams had 13 shots a piece; but PVAMU out shot Grambling 11-8 on goals.
- Nine different players took shots, as well as nine shots on goal.
- Bernal scored her third goal of the season, while D'Sanye Nugent scored her second
- The team remains undefeated in conference play with a 6-0 record. They had a six game win streak during the 2019 season when the Lady Panthers won the 2019 SWAC Championship.
Prairie View A&M will return to action when they host Mississippi Valley on Friday, October 15 for a 7 p.m. kick at the PVAMU Soccer Field.
