PRAIRIE VIEW – It seemed only fitting as 11 Prairie View A&M soccer seniors had an opportunity to play in front of their home crowd in a 2-0 victory over Arkansas Pine Bluff for Senior Night at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
How it Happened:
Prairie View opened the scoring with a free kick by defender Andrea Nugent, who earned the assist after finding senior Sonia Fuentes for a quick kick to the left corner of the net to take a 1-0 lead over the Lady Golden Lions at the 23rd minute.
Savannah Powell followed suite as she found the net at the 34th minute. The forward from Arlington, Texas buried a beauty that snuck just inside the far post.
The defense continued to take a stance not allowing the Lady Golden Lions an opportunity to make a shot.
Post-Game Note
- Prairie View took 14 shots, eight of which were shots on goal.
- Eight different players took shots, but seven different Lady Panthers took shots on goal.
- Powell scored her second goal of the season
- Fuentes scored her first goal of the season
Prairie View A&M will return to action when they host Grambling State on Sunday, Oct. 10 for a 1 p.m. first kick at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
