LINCOLN, Neb. - In the first road game of the season for the Prairie View A&M women's basketball team, the Panthers were unable to hold off a red-hot Nebraska team in a 102-47 loss to the Cornhuskers at the Pinnacle Bank Arena Thursday evening.
How it Happened:
After a rough start to the game that saw Nebraska leading by 16 at one point in the opening quarter, the Panthers put together a quick 5-0 run late in the first to try and get back into this contest, down 28-11 after the first.
A more competitive bout followed in the ensuing quarter, as Prairie View A&M scored 18 points to Nebraska's 21 in the second frame to go into the half, 49-29. The Panthers were unable to keep up with the Lady Cornhuskers explosive offense that had 14 straight points following halftime, as the game proved out of reach for Prairie View A&M for the rest of the way.

Gerlyn Smith led the Panthers in points with 13, going 2-2 from behind the arc. Smith also led the team with six rebounds
The Panthers will look to bounce-back against New Mexico on Tuesday, November 16th with a 7 p.m. start.
