BROOKINGS, SD – The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team came up short in a 99-90 loss to South Dakota, Tuesday night.
 
The Panthers (0-8) out shot the Jackrabbits (7-2), shooting 51.6 percent to their 48.4 percent from the field going, 5-13 from around the arc.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Jackrabbits took a quick 12-0 run in the initial frame holding the Panthers scoreless for nearly five minutes to carry a 17-2 lead.  South Dakota went cold allowing PVAMU to fight back getting within 13 with 3:07 left before the break.  PV just could not hold the Jackrabbits as they ended the quarter with a 49-33 advantage.
 
Both teams starting out the second half at a slow pace, trading buckets through the first eight minutes, but again the Jackrabbits went on a run pushing their lead up by 20 (71-51).  The pesky Panthers continued to chip away at SDSU with a 14-2 scoring burst bringing their lead to single digits, but unfortunately their late run wasn't enough as the Panthers fall 99-90.
 
Five Prairie View A&M players scored in double figures, led by graduate student guard Will Douglas  with 24 points.  Jawaun Daniels and Markedric Bell contributed 12 points apiece.  Both DeWayne Cox and Jeremiah Kendall scored 11 points.  Christian Guess pulled down a team high six rebounds.  Jeremiah Gambrell, Jr. dished out a season high seven assists, while adding six points.
