AMES, IOWA – Finishing up their final non-conference road trip with a tough 108-39 loss at Iowa State Sunday evening, the Panthers women's basketball team will finish the 2021 season out at home and turn their attention to the Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule which will begin January 3, 2022.
Prairie View A&M (2-8) will conclude the preseason schedule with a contest against Jarvis Christian on Thursday, December 30 for a 2 p.m. tip off.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
On Sunday PVAMU didn't have a lot of scoring in the game, what the Panthers did have was junior
Kennedy Paul who scored a season high of 19 points,
Diana Rosenthal had seven, while
Gerlyn Smith had five points respectively.
The Panthers shot 20.8 percent from the field and the two teams combined missed 151 shots, and the Cyclones had a 66-33 advantage in rebounds.
Brittany Garner had a team high of six rebounds, while
Jessica Soders added five.
The Cyclones took the lead straight out the gate leading the first quarter 29-4 never looking back. There was no relief for the Panthers in the second quarter as they could not find a notch to get out of the 54 point deficit going into the break.
Iowa States' scoring frenzy continued as they put points on the board taking the game with a 108-39 win.
PVAMU will take a break and return to action Dec 30 prior to SWAC action at Grambling State in Ruston, La. for a 5:30 p.m. start.
