PRAIRIE VIEW – In front of over 200 fans and its home opener at the PVAMU Soccer field, Prairie View A&M scored an historical goal by junior
Lesa Griffin as the Lady Panthers battled to a 1-1 tie with DI Sun Belt Conference opponent Texas State Sunday.
Griffin found the net at the 77
th minute before Mya Ulloa of Texas State tied the game in the 86
th minute which would force the 1-1 tie.
The Lady Panther broke the 13-0 shutout streak. This is the first time that the team was able to score against the Bobcats as well as take the lead in any game played.
"Today was definitely an accomplishment for this team," said head soccer coach
Sonia Curvelo. "I know we were up 1-0 with four minutes left. At the end of the day we are happy getting on the scoreboard and this has been one of the things that we have been talking about. Something we didn't get a chance to do on Friday. I was proud of the players today. We want to continue to push to get the win next time."
"We started off a little slow and the beginning, but we had our chances and they had chances too.

D'Sanye Nugent found Griffin who was able to hit the right corner of the net in a mist of a crowd of several players.
Post game Notes:
- Although the shots were lopsided the Lady Panthers managed 11 shots three on goal, while the Bobcats finished with a total of 26 shots and 13 on goal shots.
- First time in the history of the program that PVAMU scored against the Bobcats.
- Eight different Lady Panthers took shots: Griffin (2, 1 goal);

Prairie View A&M will return to action Friday, August 27, when they host Northwestern State at 7 p.m. for Lace up for kids night.
