PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M soccer team continues to roll of late, as the Lady Panthers used a second-half score and a lights out defensive stance to notch a 1-0 victory over the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders Friday night for the clubs second consecutive win at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
The Lady Panthers have improved their record on the season to 2-1-1, while the Islanders drop to 1-3.
"We're creating so many opportunities; moving the ball, connecting passes, communicating" said Soccer Head Coach Sonia Curvello on the win. "I feel confident in [this] team and I know that they believe in themselves."Â
How it Happened:Â
Following several close shots by the Lady Panthers, the eventual game winner scored by D'Sanye Nugent in the 64th minute from right outside the box into the top left corner.Â
Post-Game Notes:Â
- Prairie View took 15 shots, 11 of which were shots on goal.Â
- For the second time this season, the Lady Panthers has beaten an opponent that they have never previously defeated. Now having a 1-3 all-time record against the Islanders.Â
- D'Sanye Nugent joins her sister Andrea Nugent as they both have a goal to their name through two games played this week.Â
- The Lady Panthers have outshot their opponents by a margin of 32-11 in the past two games.Â
Prairie View A&M will face another Southland Conference foe as they host McNeese State, September 5th with a 1 p.m. first kick at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
