Defensive Stalemate Ends in a Double Overtime Draw

PRAIRIE VIEW - The Prairie View A&M University back line turned in a strong defensive performance, Sunday afternoon as the Lady Panthers played the McNeese Cowgirls to a 0-0 tie through 110 minutes of soccer at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.

The Lady Panthers held the Cowgirls to just four shots on goal for the game.  McNeese's defense turned in and equally strong performance, holding PVAMU to three shots on goal.  It was PV that held the advantage in total shots, firing six total compared to just four for the Cowgirls.

Post-Game Notes: 
  • For a third time this season the Lady Panthers halted an opponent from punching in no goals.
  • Conference Goal Keeper of the week Sierra Cota-Yarde notched four saves and her second clean sheet.
  • For the second time this season, the Lady Panthers has tied with an opponent that they have never previously defeated. Now having a 0-10-1 all-time record against the Cowgirls.
  • The Lady Panthers have outshot their opponents by a margin of 38-15 in the past three games. 
Prairie View A&M will face WAC Conference foe Stephen F. Austin, September 12th with a 1 p.m. first kick in Nacogdoches.  They will be able to relax for two weeks prior to conference play, when they open up to Jackson Stat on September 24th in Jackson, Miss.
