PRAIRIE VIEW – As the good saying goes "Patience is a Virtual" as former defensive lineman Ronald Collins joins the Tuscan Sugar Skulls IFL's (Indoor Football League) team.
The Indoor Football League is America's longest continuously-running indoor football league and begins its 13th consecutive season of play in 2021. The IFL began play in 2009 following a merger between the United Indoor Football League and the Intense Football League.
Collins played at Prairie View A&M for four seasons. Appearing primarily at defensive tackle in 37 games (21 starts) for the Panthers. He recorded 120 total tackles (43 solo), 17 take-a ways, 7.5 sacks, four quarterback hits and two pass breakups over his career.
During his senior season in 2019, Collins was named to the Preseason All-SWAC Second Team and played in 10 games, ranking fourth on the team with 55 total tackles, 7.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks. He also caught a one-yard touchdown on offense during his sophomore season. Prior to his final season as a Panther Collins earned 51 total tackles and two sacks in 2018.
The Sugar Skulls will play eight regular-season home games at Tucson Arena beginning in March, with the 16-game regular season running through July, with the IFL playoffs scheduled to begin in late July.
