3-Point Shots and Turnovers Lifts Jags Over PVAMU

BATON ROUGE, La. – Three-point shots and a ton of turnovers proved to be a difference in the game as the Southern Jaguars outscored Prairie View A&M 13-0 from outside the arc, and scored 23 points off of turnovers that provided a cushion in a 89-52 Southwestern Athletic Conference win by Southern U., Wednesday evening at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Prairie View A&M (4-9) shot 43.9 percent for the game, and turned over the ball 33 times in the contest.

"We've got to take better care of the basketball," said head PVAMU women's basketball coach.  "That was just too many turnovers.  We didn't shot the ball well either."

Junior Diana Rosenthal was 7-for-13 from the floor and led PVAMU in scoring with 18 points.  Kennedy Paul also reached double figures, scoring 10 points, while hitting 3-for-5 from the field and going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free stripe line.  Brittney Garner scored eight, Kirdis Clark and Gerlyn Smith added six apiece.

The Panthers will return to action when they host the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State on Saturday, January 8 for a 3 p.m. tip off at the William J. Nicks Building.  Its 80's night so dress in your best!!!!
