PRAIRIE VIEW – The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season with a win over Kansas Christian College Monday afternoon in the William J. Nicks Building.
Graduate student Will Douglas scored 16 points to lead the Panthers to a 94-79 victory over Kansas Christian College to open the regular season. Douglas was one of four players to notch double figures in scoring. Transfer Kortijk Miles also had 16 points, while senior
Jeremiah Gambrell had 14 and newcomer Mckinley Harris added 10 points.
The Panthers finished the game shooting 49.3 percent from the field (36-for-73). PVAMU hit 76.9 percent (20-for-26) at the free throw line. Panthers owned a 39-25 advantage in rebounds.
How it Happened:
- The Falcons took a 8-0 lead early in the period, continuing their lead through the first 16 minutes of the first half. PVAMU took the lead with 4:26 left before half time
- Prairie View A&M netted the next six points grabbing a 42-36 advantage, taking a 47-41 lead into the break.
- The Panthers increased the lead to 10 (53-43) to begin the second half of play. PV never slipped into single digits in the second half, growing their lead to 21 points at the 4:11 mark when Tekorian Smith's dunk made it 85-64, before setting for the final score.
The Panthers next action is Wednesday, November 9, with tip-off slated for 6 p.m. in the William J. Nicks Baby Dome. All games are free in the month of November.
