Women's Basketball Shows Grit in Late Run at Tulsa

TULSA- Okla. – The PVAMU women's basketball showed fight in its 66-61 loss to Tulsa on Thursday morning at the Donald Reynolds Center.

The Panthers stayed consistent through half time.  In the first quarter PVAMU was down by only two keeping pace with the Hurricanes.

The second quarter was much like the first with the Panthers keeping in stride with Tulsa.  PVAMU went into the half down 34-28.

The Hurricanes came out strong in the third half.  Tulsa opened up with a 10-0 run taking a 16-point lead with 3:17 left in the third quarter.  They continued their run closing out the quarter with a 56-40 game lead.

The Panthers pushed back out scoring Tulsa 21-10 in the final stretch of the contest, but it wasn't enough in the closing scene as PVAMU fell 66-61.

"We made a big push in the fourth quarter", said head PVAMU women's basketball coach Sandy Pugh. "We were down by five going into half time and finished the third quarter down by 16.  The ladies were able to battle hard and pushed back."

Senior Diana Rosenthal led the charge for PVAMU finishing with 19 points, one assist, one rebound and one steal.  Tamiracle Taylor drained 15 points, three rebounds and one steal in the contest.

Prairie View A&M will return to action on Wednesday December 13, when they travel to Hammond, La., to face Southeastern La. for a 5:30 p.m. tip inside the University Center.
