STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Prairie View A&M dropped three games over the weekend at the Dr. Pam Littleton Classic hosted by the Tarleton Texans.
"We need better offense to match our offense if we are going to win games", said head PVAMU Volleyball Coach
TaCho Tyler. "We went four sets with Tarleton ending the weekend on a high note. We have are going to have to be consistent with our offense. The freshman have really stepped up in all positions. Just looking forward to the team getting more cohesive."
Game One
TSU 3, PVAMU 0
The Tennessee State volleyball team took the first match of the tournament versus the Lady Panthers by the scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-16, Friday afternoon at Wisdom Volleyball Gym.
Freshman
Kylee Owens finished with 11 kills on the afternoon to lead the Lady Panther offense, while finishing with a hitting percentage 0.28. She also had one service ace and two digs. Freshman
Leila Smalls added two blocks and seven digs.
Jakarta Hope had a season high of three kills as the setter dished out eight assists and added three digs.
Game Two
Southeastern La. 3, PVAMU 0
The Lady Panthers has face Southeastern La., two weekends in a row not finding any rhythm to pull out a win falling by the scores of 25-12, 25-14, 25-13.
Southeastern never looked back as they took all three sets.
Junior middle blocker
Delaney Esterling, led the offense for the Lady Panthers with five kills, while freshman middle blocker
Skylynn Wynn had four. Wynn also posted two blocks. Hope finished the game with 10 assists.
Game Three
Tarleton 3, PVAMU 1
The Lady Panthers were down two sets, before finding a connection in the 3-1 match falling by the scores of 14-25, 16-25, 25-16, 14-25.
The Lady Panthers came out ready for set three, jumping out to a 13-6 lead. The closest the Texans cut it to was 15-13, but the Lady Panthers kept their foot on the gas.
Owens finished with a match-high 15 kills, adding a season high of 10 digs, and an ace. Wynn and smalls each added nine and six kills respectively. Freshman
MaKinzie Taplin added a season high of 16 assists, while Hope had 15 and seven digs.
The Lady Panthers will return to the William J. Nicks Babydome for their home season opener versus Texas A&M – Commerce on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for a 6 p.m. first serve.
