Prairie View A&M falls 98-77 to Tulane

NEW ORLEANS, LA --The Prairie View A&M men's basketball team got a 27-point performance from the bench but fell 98-77 to the Tulane Green Wave on the road Wednesday.

The Panthers (4-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Smith, IV, Charles, who had 23 points and two steals. Felix, Jr., Chris added 19 points and Javontae Hopkins helped out with 11 points off the bench.

Led by Andre Nunley's two offensive rebounds, Prairie View A&M did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 10 boards that resulted in 10-second chance points.

Prairie View A&M forced 19 Tulane turnovers while committing 11 themselves in Wednesday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Nunley's three steals led the way for Prairie View A&M.

How It Happened

After falling behind 24-23, Prairie View A&M went on an 8-0 run with 8:35 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Iv Smith, to take a 31-24 lead. The Panthers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 43-38.

Tulane kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 81-58 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Jr. Horton's three, to shrink the deficit to 81-63 with 8:05 to go in the contest. Tulane responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 98-77. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 16 of its 39 total points.
