Five Panthers score in double digits in Prairie View A&M's loss to UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, TX --Five Panthers scored in double digits, but Prairie View A&M fell to the UTSA Roadrunners 103-89 on the road Thursday.

The Panthers (5-7) had five players score in double figures, led by Chris Felix, Jr., who had 19 points and two steals. Javontae Hopkins added a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds and Charles Lane, Jr., chipped in as well with 15 points off the bench.

Hopkins pulled down six offensive rebounds to lead the Prairie View A&M offense which grabbed 14 boards and turned them into 12 second-chance points.

Prairie View A&M forced 13 UTSA turnovers while committing 10 themselves in Thursday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Felix, two steals led the way for Prairie View A&M.

How It Happened

Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 52-32 heading into halftime.

UTSA kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 83-60 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 13-0 run, finished off by Hopkins' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 83-73 with 5:44 to go in the contest. UTSA responded and outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 103-89. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 28 of its 57 total points.
