NEW ORLEANS, La. --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Prairie View A&M had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 10 Panthers on base in a 13-1 setback at the hands of the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Friday.
Freshman Elijah Breeden (1-1) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (1-4, ) and took the loss. Sophomore Cody Smith was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits.
Sophomore Garrison Weiss led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 1-for-2 in the ballgame with a double and a walk. Freshman Michael Burroughs put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-2 with two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Burroughs came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board. Alabama A&M then scored 12 times over the remaining three innings to break the tie and grab the 13-1 win.
