2023 SWAC Bowling Team Selection Show

Bowling Set to Host NCAA Arlington Regional Championship; As They Face Fayetteville State in the Play In Round

PRAIRIE VIEW – The 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference Champions Prairie View A&M University Women's Bowling team will begin its march towards the NCAA Championship, drawing Fayetteville State of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) as the Lady Panthers learned during the NCAA's Bowling Championship Selection Show.

PVAMU not only will play in the first round they are also the host team for the NCAA Arlington Regionals.  The Lady Panthers earned an automatic bid to the dance following their sixth SWAC championship title victory Women's Bowling Tournament days ago.

There will be three other teams joining PVAMU and FSU in the Arlington region.  Perennial contender #1 seed McKendree, Sam Houston State, and Louisiana Tech will also be in attendance.

SWAC Tournament MVP Stephanie Vasquez is no stranger to the national stage, this will be her second appearance in two years completing her final year of eligibility.  Teammates Ashlyn Okazaki and Ivelisse Reyes will also have their second opportunity to face off on the national stage.  The first-timers will be Victoria Cobos, Miranda Fuentes, SWAC Freshman of the Year Jayda Gordon, and Amani Moore.
 
The 2023 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship regional competition will be held April 6-8 at the International Training and Research Center (ITRC). The winner of each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship rounds on April 14-15 at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nevada.

All regionals are double elimination except for the play-in match at the five-team regional which will be single elimination. Each round will consist of teams competing in a best-of-three match format, bowled in the following order: five-person team match; Baker total pin fall; and best-of-seven Baker match play. Regional competition will conclude with one team from each regional bracket advancing to compete in the championship. The champion will be determined using a best-of-seven Baker match play. The championship final will air at 9 p.m. Eastern time, Saturday, April 15 on ESPNU.
