Prairie View A&M drops tough 14-4 contest to Tarleton State

STEPHENVILLE, TX --Senior Zachary Trevino went 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Prairie View A&M Panthers in a 14-4 loss to the Tarleton State Texans on Saturday.

Junior Victor Mendoza (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (2-9).

Trevino led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with two RBI. Freshman Marshal Jonas furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 7-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the second inning. Junior Paul Castro came across to score the lone run of the inning for Prairie View A&M and get them on the board.

The Texans expanded their lead to 9-1 before the Panther's offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Trevino, which brought the score to 9-4 in favor of the Texans. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Tarleton State added five runs to their tally on the way to a 14-4 final.
