BEAUMONT, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers were not able to notch a run against Texas Southern pitcher junior Cade Fontenot on Sunday despite recording five hits and were shut out 2-0 by the Tigers.
Sophomore Matthew Krall (3-4) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (18-32, ). The right-hander went nine innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on nine hits, allowing two walks and striking out three.
Junior Mason Heiskell led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Prairie View A&M managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. The Panthers last got a runner on third in the sixth, when Heiskell made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.
