Prairie View A&M leaves 10 on base in loss to Rice

HOUSTON, Texas --Though they had plenty of opportunities, Prairie View A&M had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 10 Panthers on base in an 18-5 setback at the hands of the Rice Owls on Tuesday.

Senior Joshua Larzabal (2-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (18-33).

Sophomore Garrison Weiss led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with two walks and an RBI. Freshman Michael Burroughs provided a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Jordon Ginn also helped out, going 1-for-4 for Prairie View A&M with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers were trailing 7-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Ginn's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Prairie View A&M.

The Owls expanded their lead to 10-2 before the Panthers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. which tightened the Owls lead to 10-5. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Rice added eight runs to their tally on the way to an 18-5 final.
