PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers put together an admirable performance on Thursday, but ultimately came up short, falling to the Grambling Tigers by the score of 6-3.
Junior Michael Dews (4-6) started and took the loss on the mound for Prairie View A&M (18-33, 14-13). Junior Tyrone Ty was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out two.
Junior Derrek Lathon led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with two RBI. Sophomore Garrison Weiss provided a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Prairie View A&M scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Lathon. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Grambling added one run to their tally on the way to a 6-3 final.
