PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas --The Prairie View A&M Panthers had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Grambling Tigers by the final score of 6-2.
Freshman Ahmar Donatto (1-2) got the ball to start for Prairie View A&M (18-35, 14-14) and took the loss. Junior Devin Aguado was a bright spot for the Panthers, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 4.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits, with one walk and five strikeouts.
At the plate, the Panthers were led by junior Paul Castro, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior Alex Martinez put together a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Senior Sebastian Coria also contributed for Prairie View A&M, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Castro put Prairie View A&M on the board with a two-out solo home run off freshman Connor Rudy.
The Tigers expanded their lead to 3-1 before the Panthers offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Prairie View A&M scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Coria, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Tigers. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Grambling added three runs to their tally on the way to a 6-2 final.
