PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - The Panthers went through nearly two hours of work on Blackshear field at Panther Stadium running over 80 plays during their first scrimmage.
PVAMU's head coach was not too thrilled about the first scrimmage of the season.
"Today we didn't look like the team I've seen for the last four or five days," said second-year head football coach
Bubba McDowell. "We have been flying around and looking good, but today was a different team. We will sit down review the film and look at the mistakes we made as a whole. I just didn't like what I saw today, but I know we will get it together. We will correct some things, and come out next week hopefully better than today."
The Panthers are three weeks away from its season opener at the Shell Energy Stadium versus Texas Southern on September 2 for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
"Each day we practice, it gets closer to the first game," McDowell said. "I wanted to make sure this week we zeroed in on some things that are needed. We'll start cutting down on some of the reps because we have some guys who need more reps going forward."
The team will return to practice on Monday beginning at 9 a.m. for week three.
