LORMAN, MS --Five Panthers scored in double figures, but Prairie View A&M fell to the Alcorn State Braves 90-78 on the road Monday.
The Panthers (7-11, 2-3) had five players score in double figures, led by Charles Smith IV, who had 19 points and three steals. Brian Myles added 19 points and Javontae Hopkins helped out with 13 points and six rebounds.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M struggled out of the gate, falling behind 49-31 heading into halftime.
Alcorn State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 75-49 advantage before Prairie View A&M went on a 10-0 run to shrink the deficit to 75-59 with 7:57 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept their comeback going, but Alcorn State managed to hold on for the 90-78 win. Prairie View A&M got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 47 total points.
